How do I choose hunting binoculars in Australia?

The two most important specs are magnification and objective lens diameter. 10x42 is our most popular choice, and for good reason: the extra reach suits Australia's open country, from alpine tops to a paddock edge at last light. 8x42 trades some of that distance for a wider, steadier field of view, better in dense scrub and timber. Maven's range runs wider still, from a pocket-sized 8x25 up to an 18x56 for long glassing sessions.

Not sure which series or magnification suits you? Call Josh, he's used most of them in the field.

Common questions

What is the difference between the B.1 and B.2?
The fundamental difference is the prism. The B.1 uses a traditional Schmidt-Pechan roof prism and the B.2 uses the Abbe-Koenig prism. Because of the prism size the B.2 is slightly larger and heavier, but offers 3% more end-to-end light transmission. The B.1 is more compact and comes in the traditional 8x42 and 10x42, while the B.2 comes in 9x45 and 11x45. Generally speaking, the larger 45mm objective gathers more light and performs better in low light.
Should I go with higher magnification or lower magnification?
It is a personal choice and depends on how you hunt. Lower magnification gives a larger field of view, a larger exit pupil, which means more light to the eye, and is easier to hold steady. Higher magnification shows more detail in distant subjects and brings them closer.
What is included when I buy a binocular?
Each binocular comes with lens covers for the objective and ocular lenses, a soft storage bag suitable for cleaning the lenses, and a padded neoprene neck strap. The exception is the C.2, which comes with ocular lens covers only.
